Before lockdown this was the largest piece of rubbish I found during the take3forthesea CEO Clean-Up event in Manly. Safe to say someone wasn't happy about the 2P limits in the area 🤔 Next up is the #Take3CEOCleanup starting in October. Very proud to have the new website launching this week to allow us to have multiple Clean-Up events across Australia with ease (for fundraising at least...) 💪

😷While we've been in lockdown, our local plastic pollution has been growing... Unfortunately, despite all of our efforts to reduce single use plastics, Australia's taken a step backwards since the start of the pandemic. Now, we find PPE and takeaway packaging waste littered everywhere, being picked up by seabirds, not people.
While I can't participate in the next take3forthesea CEO CleanUp event as we would normally due to restrictions, I'm so proud that we can carry out this important work safely in our local areas with the upcoming #Take3CEOCleanUp event. Watch this space for more news soon. #take3forthesea

🗑️🌊🌳The LEP team are gearing up for another important take3forthesea CEO Clean-Up event. Since the pandemic started, PPE plastic and takeaway packaging is choking our waterways and coastlines and our environment is paying the price. While we can't gather for in person clean-up events yet, that won't stop us for doing our part and raising funds for important environment education and campaigning. Stay tuned for more news on how you can be part of the first ever #Take3CEOCleanUp in your area. #take3forthesea

CEO Clean-Up Initiative

Plastic pollution is one of the biggest threats to oceans, marine life and the broader environment. Over 8 million tonnes of new plastic enter the ocean each year, and by 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.

Every day, business across Australia are adding to the plastic pollution problem.

You can be part of the solution.

The Take 3 CEO Clean-Up events are the first of their kind, providing business leaders with the opportunity to lead by example and make a positive change in their community.

The Take 3 Story

Take 3 believes in simple actions to address complex problems. In 2009, two local friends asked themselves, how can we stop plastic pollution from killing wildlife and suffocating our planet?

To answer this question, Roberta Dixon-Valk and Amanda Marechal developed an idea where a simple action could produce profound consequences. Joining forces with environmentalist Tim Silverwood, the trio established Take 3 as an organisation and launched it publicly in 2010.

Their message was simple, Take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway or…anywhere, and you have made a difference.
